Maternidad y sostenibilidad con Marina Jardino

Motherhood and sustainability with Marina Jardino

Hello Marina, could you introduce yourself and tell us a little about yourself?

Nice to meet you! I am Marina from Jardino Studio, a 24-year-old mother, designer and creative director by profession. Lately I've been creating content on social media about my recent motherhood.

After becoming a mother, how has your pregnancy influenced your lifestyle, what new habits have you acquired?

I have always tried to take care of myself but I suppose it all started during my pregnancy, by leading a life inside you become much more aware of everything around you and, above all, what you put in your body. Both cosmetic products and food products and many other aspects. There I began to pay special attention to all these factors and educate myself about them. I think this has made me try to live an even healthier lifestyle.

Why do you think it is crucial to avoid toxic and polluting products during pregnancy and breastfeeding?

Just as we are what we eat, the products we apply to our body are absorbed by our largest organ, the skin. And therefore much of what we apply to our body reaches our baby. There are products that can be very harmful to the development of our little one and for this reason we must be careful. I apply the same logic to breastfeeding, what products I use, what I eat, etc.

What motivated you to research natural products during your pregnancy and motherhood?

Fundamentally the health of my baby and mine. Because if I don't take care of myself, how can I expect to be well enough to take care of others? I think that with motherhood, many moms end up forgetting about themselves. For me it is very important to feel healthy, strong, and be an example for my son. In the end it is something that you apply in all aspects of your life, and a chemical-free life is the ideal. Not only in cosmetics but in household cleaning products, pesticides in food, etc.

Tell us your experience about your titkok channel, where you inspire other mothers to make safer decisions for their babies.

My Tik Tok channel really arose a little from the need to tell my story to other mothers, I think that my lifestyle is not the most common nowadays and I would have liked to consume this type of content from someone more similar to me. . It turned out that many mothers were interested in my channel and I have taken advantage of it to create a community where my goal is to show realistic motherhood but at the same time inspiring and with a different point of view. I think you always have to be open to learning new realities.

What are some of the most common myths about natural products in breastfeeding and pregnancy?

I think the problem today is that many brands sell their products as suitable but when it comes down to it they contain many additives that alter our hormonal system as a woman and therefore that of our baby. There should be much more rigorous control and not even allow marketing according to which products.

What would you say to a mother who is starting to look for more sustainable options and feels overwhelmed?

I would tell you that the best thing is to simplify, I am not a person who applies hundreds of products either, in the end today we have been told that you need a thousand steps in your skin or hair care routine to obtain a beautiful result. But the truth is that the fewer things, the better your health. You just have to look at the components, nowadays there are even applications that, by scanning the product, tell you how good or bad it is for your body.

After using our products, what did you like the most? The smell, the result, the impact on your body and nature, among them.

I have been using only solid soaps and conditioners for almost a year now, it takes a little getting used to and finding the one that works for you but I have to say that when I tried the soap and conditioner from Casa Magnolia I was surprised, they have an incredible texture and smell and they are super easy to apply, normally you have to work a little more with solid soaps but with these showers are very easy. I think my favorite is the conditioner, I've finally found one that really works for me and leaves my hair super soft and easy to comb.

Is there any future project or plan you would like to tell us about, related to a healthier and more sustainable lifestyle?

My motherhood has made me rethink many aspects of my life, my work, my habits, etc. Right now I'm focused on taking care of my baby but whenever I have some time I take the opportunity to create content for my community on Tik Tok. I've also recently started a YouTube channel where I created a little more curated and inspiring content. In the end I have a creative background and I would not like to get away from it but rather apply it to projects that I enjoy more and that give me more freedom. I don't have a clear vision right now, but I do know that I want to be the owner of my time so I can dedicate it to my family and projects that truly enrich me.
